Anatomy of Melancholy (digital art)

Posted on December 17, 2025 By Carl Bettis
A symmetrically varied brown background. Orange squiggles run diagonally on the left, oriented lower-left to upper-right. Over all this, a block of text (with a marginal smaller block of text to its left) in old type from a page of Burton’s Anatomy of Melancholy. Over all this, a blobby, multicolored shape that includes a vertically bisected 2-color circle. At the bottom, parts of a machine—black abstract doodles over that. At the lower left, a black-and-white photo of a blue jay from the neck up, looking down and to the right.
