Unnamed Thing

Posted on October 17, 2026 By Thomas Gorn

Unnamed Thing

This slender and repulsive reptile
is found only in nature,
never in song or lore.
Seen, it slithers from mind
where memory cannot search.
It will lurk in the underthought
half a lifetime, until
a random pang of hunger
moves it to strike. Fangs
pierce, poison swims
through veins, pulse is frozen
to sludge. Another half
a lifetime is spent
walking about, greeting familiars,
as the creature nip
by sip digests
your delectable flesh.
