Bargain Bread

Posted on October 17, 2026 By Reggie Herne

Bargain Bread

I sold my dreams to the Devil
for a credit card with no limit
and negative fees.
I traveled the world, always
drunk or high, slept
with the most beautiful people.

Sunrise in Reykjavík. I make breakfast
for the model who, after a night
of murmurs and twitches, smiles
and says, What should we do today?
I ask, Does this country have any bread
that hasn’t always been stale?
