the song of my people

Posted on July 18, 2026 By sylvester hobson

the song of my people

my ancestors—
celtic, anglo, scandinavi—
i wrote
when green
invocations to.
but i don’t have
their languages or lore,
their tunes or ways
to move thru time
or handicraft.
i’m here tonight
to day like
they never did,
and the hundred
lightning bugs
that signal around me are
my people as much.
