We Are Among Us (poem)

Posted on October 21, 2025 By Thomas Gorn

We Are Among Us

Incubi and succubi
prowl dance clubs, country clubs,
book clubs, churches.
They tempt us not
with groin or breast or tongue
but with tiny mirrors
the size of a thumb,
from which we peek out at ourselves
with eyes amazed and in love.
Who can resist their own regard?
We follow, heedless of the years
of rueful reflections to come.
