NaPoWriMo 2021 Day 4: Easter's Riddle Explored

Abstract representation of the alchemical symbol for mercury made to look somewhat like an Easter Bunny, with a decorated egg and other miscellaneous bits.

Easter's Riddle Explored

1.
What have eggs to do
with Jesus?
They're Mary's eggs.
She's not using them.

2.
As Christ (not a historical person but Humanity in its eternal aspect) was captive in the egg in Mary's womb (Mary, the world of innocence in which we come to be) and emerged into the dirty world, so He emerged, as may we, from earthen tomb to purity again.

3.
That swift fecund trickster,
the hare, hides
(so that we'll treasure it)
the sealed vessel
in which the soul germinates
and the golden yolk
is transmuted to clay,
that dangerous alembic
craftily plastered
with pastel patterns,
looking as harmless and charming
as an infant joy.
