Civic Engagement (poem)

Posted on October 26, 2025 By Ian Erinson

Civic Engagement

Swamp Thing rises:
the water tastes of oil and plastic,
greasy-feathered herons wobble,
gators bob lethargic and pink-eyed:
the wetlands are in trouble!
He writes a letter to his senator,
keeps it polite.
What more can he do?
